Trump’s Approval Falls to Record Low as 66% of Americans Express Dissatisfaction: Reuters-Ipsos Poll

US Public Support for Iran War Hits Lowest Level: Poll
US President Donald Trump is facing growing political pressure ahead of the November midterm elections, with separate polls showing widespread dissatisfaction with his performance and economic policies.
A Fox News poll found that 64 per cent of respondents disapproved of Trump’s overall performance, while 36 per cent expressed approval. The survey also found that 55 per cent of Americans rejected his claims that he was bringing inflation under control.
A separate Reuters/Ipsos poll showed that 66 per cent of Americans disapproved of Trump’s performance, compared with 31 per cent who approved. The results indicated substantial public dissatisfaction with the president’s leadership.
Economic concerns featured prominently in the findings. According to the Reuters/Ipsos survey, 68 per cent of respondents were unhappy with Trump’s economic policies, while 40 per cent expressed greater confidence in Democrats than Republicans to handle economic issues.
On voting preferences, 47 per cent of respondents favoured the Democratic Party, compared with 35 per cent who supported the Republicans.
The surveys suggest that rising living costs and dissatisfaction with economic management could become significant challenges for Republicans in the midterm elections. Higher petroleum prices following US military action against Iran have also added pressure to the administration’s economic position.
Although individual polls can differ in methodology and results, the findings point to a difficult political environment for Trump as his party prepares to defend its position in Congress.
