Passport of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is expiring tonight, said federal interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.

He said this, while addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Sheikh Rashid referred to names of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz on the Exit Control List since August 2018.

The Interior Minister further said that they cannot issue passports to those named in the ECL.

However, he said the government would not stop Nawaz Sharif from returning to Pakistan.

He said if Nawaz Sharif desires so, the government will issued the emergency travel documents.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed predicted PTI would triumph in  the Senate election.

He expressed the confidence that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) will emerge victorious in the upcoming Senate elections.

He further predicted political stability and reduction in rumour mongering after the Senate polls.

The Interior Minister said the country will move forward economically and financially under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Sheikh said the network of NADRA offices will be expanded at the Tehsil headquarters level.

Moreover, he said the NADRA will issue one hundred thousand identity cards per day.

The Interior Minister said the fee of passports for ten years has also been reduced.

He asked the people to apply for ten years passport in order to reduce the burden on passport offices.
