The People’s Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti also highlighted link of Indo-Pak ties with the issue of Kashmir.

She further said any renewed thaw in the relations of India and Pakistan remains subservient to the progress made towards addressing the long-pending political and democratic demands of the people of Kashmir.

Mufti had served India-occupied Kashmir as chief minister.

Despite that, she also had to face wrath of Indian government.

Modi-led BJP government also targeted her alongside pro-Pakistan APHC leaders.

Meanwhile, Chairman US Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee, Bob Menendez says US-India relations must rest on adherence to democratic values by India.

He said this in a letter to Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin, who is visiting India today.

Mendez drew attention to rising anti-Muslim sentiments, citizenship act and suppression of political dialogue in India.

Moreover, he also drew attention to arrest of political opponents in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He said Modi government’s ongoing crackdown on farmers and intimidation of journalists and government critics only underscore deteriorating situation of democracy in India.
