Abdul Qayyum Niazi of PTI elected as the 13th Prime Minister of AJK – Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

As a chairman of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan nominated Abdul Qayyum Niazi for the slot of AJK PM.

According to Chaudhry Fawad Hussain’s tweet on Wednesday, the party finalized his name after detailed consultations.

Moreover, they also kept in view the proposals.

As many as 33 Members of AJK Legislative Assembly voted for Abdul Qayyum Niazi to elect him as the Leader of the House in AJK Legislative Assembly.

But the joint candidate of the Opposition, Chaudhry Latif Akbar got 15 votes.

Abdul Qayyum Niazi was elected from LA-18 Abbaspur.

On Tuesday, Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf’s candidate Anwar-ul-Haq was elected as Speaker today.

Moreover, the MLAs majority elected Chaudhry Riyaz as Deputy Speaker of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

They secured 32 votes each against the joint candidates of PPP and PML-N.

However, PPP and PMLN’s joint candidates got 15 votes.

Later, both the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker took oath of their offices.

Earlier, the newly elected members of the Legislative Assembly also took oath of their offices.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had trounced the rival PPP and PMLN in AJK LA election.

Now, both PPP and PMLN could not get more than 15 votes in the AJK LA.

However, PTI won votes of 33 MLAs.

Specially, it shows an end of era of the former ruling parties in the AJK.
