Don’t want war with Afghanistan: Pakistan

21 March, 2024 14:26

Pakistan does not want any armed conflict with Afghanistan, defence minister said today.

Speaking to foreign media, Khawaja Asif said that force is the last resort. Pakistan does not want to have an armed conflict with Afghanistan.

His remarks come after a spike in TTP attacks in Pakistan.

Pakistan had carried out intelligence-based operations (IBOs) targeting TTP’s Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group on Monday. The group was responsible for March 16 attack in Mir Ali and multiple other terrorist attacks in Pakistan.

Asif while terming Pakistan’s military action inside Afghanistan as a necessary message against rising cross-border terrorism asked the Afghan regime to control the TTP and not let them start a war with Pakistan while living in Afghanistan.

Asif said that we cannot continue like this. Pakistan will be forced to retaliate if the militant group continues its attacks.

About providing economic corridor to Afghanistan, the defence minister questioned why Pakistan should entertain such a possibility if the neighbouring state treats it like an enemy.
