Punjab postpones first-term school exams after flood-related disruptions
Thousands of students across Punjab will not take their first-term exams as planned. The School Education Department has postponed the exams due to recent floods and delays in reopening schools, which affected the academic schedule.
The first-term exams were supposed to start on October 15, but they will now be held in the first week of December. These exams will be combined with the mid-term exams, meaning students will take both together.
Many parents are worried about this delay, saying regular exams help students stay focused and reduce pressure later. Some students are also disappointed by the sudden change in plans.
Meanwhile, Punjab University (PU) has also suspended all ongoing and upcoming exams immediately. The university announced the decision through an urgent circular issued on Saturday.
This suspension covers all programs, including BA/BSc, BS (Hons), MA/MSc, MPhil, and PhD, along with supplementary and practical exams. All affiliated colleges, departments, and exam centers have been told to stop their exam activities until further notice.
The authorities have not yet shared a new schedule for the postponed exams.
