Ketan Agarwal Death: Fiancée Siya Goyal and Her Alleged Boyfriend Arrested for Lohagad Fort Murder

India has been left shaken by yet another alleged murder-for-love case, following the high-profile Raja Raghuvanshi honeymoon murder last year. This time, the victim is Ketan Agarwal, a 26-year-old real estate executive from Pune, who authorities allege was deliberately pushed into a deep gorge at Lohagad Fort near Lonavala by his fiancée, Siya Goyal (20), and her alleged secret boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary (22).

Who Was Ketan Agarwal?

Ketan served as Director and Chief Marketing Officer at Success Group, a family-run real estate company based in Pune. A Symbiosis University BBA graduate, he also earned a Master’s in Science of Entrepreneurship from the prestigious Babson F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business in the United States. Those close to him described him as ambitious, joyful, and deeply committed to both his professional and personal life.

A Love Story That Concealed a Dark Secret

By all outward appearances, Ketan and Siya were a picture-perfect couple. They got engaged in a grand ceremony in February 2026 and had planned a lavish wedding in Udaipur, Rajasthan, in November 2026. The families had reportedly reserved a palace in Jaipur for the occasion at a cost of Rs 17 crore, with two private aircraft arranged to ferry guests. Their social media presence was filled with romantic photos, loving messages, and countdown posts to their big day.

What Happened at Lohagad Fort?

The couple had traveled to Lohagad Fort ahead of Siya’s birthday. While police initially considered Ketan’s death an accidental fall while photographing near the fort’s edge, inconsistencies in Siya’s account — and her striking absence of grief — raised red flags among investigators. A deeper probe revealed Chetan Chaudhary, who had allegedly developed romantic feelings for Siya and maintained a hidden relationship with her involving over 2,000 phone calls over several months.

Police allege that Siya lured Ketan to the fort while Chetan secretly trailed them. The two then reportedly pushed Ketan into the gorge, causing his death. Investigators further allege that an earlier attempt had been made on June 14 at the same location, when Siya allegedly pushed Ketan toward the edge — an act he narrowly survived by grabbing nearby vegetation. She allegedly distracted attention by claiming she had spotted a snake.

Why Did Siya Not Simply Walk Away?

According to investigators, Siya allegedly told police she felt caught between her family’s long-held expectations and her feelings for Chetan. She reportedly feared that breaking the engagement would bring shame and stigma to her family, who had shared a three-decade relationship with the Agarwals. She allegedly also believed her family would reject Chetan due to concerns over his financial background. Rather than face the fallout of honesty, the two accused allegedly chose to eliminate Ketan entirely.

Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary have been arrested and charged with murder and criminal conspiracy. The investigation is ongoing.
