Amitabh Bachchan Injures Knee While Shooting for KBC 18

Bollywood’s veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan disclosed during Wednesday’s episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 18 that he recently injured his knee while shooting for the show.

Amitabh, who normally stands at the centre of the stage for his opening monologue, was seen seated during the recent episode.

Amitabh said, “Usually, I do my monologue standing at the centre, but today, I have a knee injury. Yesterday, during the shoot, I slipped and fell and injured my knee,” he added that he was having “a little bit of difficulty standing up.”

The actor also calmed fans that the injury was not severe and that he would get better soon.

The disclosure comes shortly after Amitabh talked retirement rumors sparked by a recent blog post. In the post, he had written “wishes to retire,” which some people interpreted as a sign that he was planning to leave films.

However, Amitabh later elucidated that he was mentioning to going to bed rather than retiring from his career.

He explained, adding that he had no plans to retire from work, “I wrote in the blog  … ‘it’s late, time to retire  …’ which we all know means retire to bed it’s late.”

Amitabh has part of the Kaun Banega Crorepati show for more than two decades. The quiz show premiered on July 3, 2000, with him as its host.

He has hosted every season except Season 3, when Shah Rukh Khan took over. Now in its 18th season, KBC has completed 26 years, with Amitabh continuing to return to the popular show year after year.
