Mehwish Hayat, Sanam Saeed Address Online Criticism of Shahveer Kadwani

Actress Sanam Saeed and Mehwish Hayat have defended young actor Shahveer Kadwani amid the online backlash and personal attacks directed at him over his role in the recently premiered drama Mohabbat.

Both stars turned to Instagram Stories to express their thoughts, sked fans to separate genuine criticism of an actor’s work from personal attacks that may cause emotional distress.

Sanam Saeed expressed frustration over the backlash against Shahveer, reminding social media users that he is still a young actor learning his way through the entertainment industry.

“There you guys go again! Bashing someone for his portrayal in a drama. It’s a drama, for God’s sake! But his feelings are real. He’s a young actor, yaar, give him a break,” she wrote.

Addressing comments about Shahveer’s privileged background, Sanam said being a “nepo kid” does not make someone immune to emotions, insecurities or personal struggles.

“So what if he’s a nepo kid? Insaan to hai na? Dil to hai na? Aap sab ki tarah insecurities and challenges hongay na,” she added.

She also questioned whether fame, money or privilege should make someone an acceptable target for online mockery, while urging people to consider the impact their words can have.

Mehwish Hayat also condemned the personal attacks, stressing that viewers can criticise an actor’s work without crossing the line into hurtful comments.

“You can critique someone’s performance and still be kind. Feedback is fair. Making fun of someone’s appearance isn’t. There’s a real person on the receiving end of it all… still learning and finding their feet. Let’s give people room to grow,” she wrote.
