Good News! No traffic challan after 5pm

The city’s traffic police chief has directed to his department against issuing challans after 5 pm till Iftar, a gesture welcomed by citizens. 

In his maiden address, DIG Ahmed Nawaz Cheema directed the traffic officials to adopt a good attitude towards the citizens.

He also forbade traffic officers to issue challans to commuters from 5pm till Iftar. Cheema instructed to keep flow of traffic uninterrupted so that the fasting citizens can easily reach their homes before Iftar.

The DIG also directed the officials to warn citizens traveling along with their families instead of a challan for violating the traffic rules. However, he suggested to take strict action against the citizens violating one way.

The DIG Traffic further said that one way violation not only leads to accidents but also affects the flow of traffic.

The DIG warned of strict departmental action if traffic police officers found guilty of misbehave or quarrel with anyone. Challan officers were directed not to challan without body wearing body camera.

The DIG instructed the officers to ensure compliance of fast lane on Shahrah-e-Faisal.

Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bahadurabad Section Ghulam Nabi while speaking to GTV said that on the instructions of DIG he had directed all his officers not to issue challans from 5pm to Iftar.

I have directed my officers to be polite while speaking to citizens even if they have committed violation of traffic rules, the DSP, who is known for his kind gestures on roads during duty, said.

Ghulam Nabi further said that he had also issued clear directions not to challan a driver traveling with his family instead he should be warned not to repeat violation again.
