Lahore Model Town court extends physical remand of Javed Latif of PMLN

It extended physical remand of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Mian Javed Latif for two more days.

PMLN’s Javed Latif is facing charges of delivering remarks against state institutions.

Police produced the PML-N leader before the court on completion of his previous four-day physical remand for hearing.

During the proceedings, the public prosecutor said that three tests including polygraph have been done.

The prosecutor further requested that his remand be extended for further investigation.

The PML-N MNA himself presented his arguments.

He said everyone would have been happy if he had remained silent at the country’s loss.

He said his lawyers have withdrawn their credentials; therefore the court can extend his remand as much as it want.

After hearing the arguments, the court extended the physical remand for two more days.

In April 2021, police took Javed Latif into custody after a sessions court dismissed his bail in a case pertaining to allegedly defaming state institutions.

Latif left the courtroom before the pronouncement of the verdict.

The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) arrested him near Saggian Pul after the court dismissed his bail plea, according to his lawyer.

Previously, the Lahore High Court heard Mian Javed Latif’s plea.

The latter has sought dismissal of case. But the LHC had stressed that no relief will be given to the person who speaks against Pakistan.

Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan had reprimanded Javed Latif and said in his remarks that the PML-N leader should leave Pakistan and take nationality of any other country.

Furthermore, he observed that the parliamentarians should do self-accountability.

Fawad Ch asks Javed Latif for unconditional apology

Meanwhile, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain Monday found no difference between Javed Latif, Altaf Hussain, BLA’s narrative.

In a tweet, he said senior PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi himself condemned Javed Latif’s anti-state remarks.

Fawad sees no difference between the narrative of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Javed Latif, Altaf Hussain and banned terrorist organisation Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).

He said Javed Latif should seek unconditional apology for his statement.

Fawad said under Article 5 of the Constitution, it remains mandatory for every citizen to remain loyal to the state.
