The manager of the said bank uploaded a video of these currency notes on social media. Later, the video created panic among citizens as they fear fake currency notes are in circulation.

On the other hand, a spokesperson for the State Bank responding to media said it’s just misprinting. However, the central bank will launch an inquiry into the matter as to how the misprinted currency notes come into circulation.

Noor Ahmed said the process of note printing is very strict. It’s just a misprinting of on one side of note. However, the bank will investigate the issue to avoid such thing in the future, he added.

About checking originality of a note, the spokesperson said that currency note and its paper has multiple security features, therefore, it can be checked easily.

He appealed to the citizens to exchange such notes if found at any bank branch and 16 offices of SBP-Banking Services Corporation.
