MQM- P, PML N agree distribution of resources through local govt system

PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique along with MQM-P convenor Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui expressed that relations between the two parties would prove to be an “important step” for Pakistan’s democracy and security.

In a news conference at MQM – Pak headquarters in Bahadurabad Saad Rafique said that the time has arrived to ensure equal distribution of resources through Provincial Finance Commission (PFC) Awards and legal and constitutional protection.

Rafique said that the Provincial Finance Commission (PFC) award should also be “made a reality” and implemented.

He said that the equal distribution of resources should now move from the provinces to local governments.

Saad Rafique said that this matter did not just concern Karachi but all cities in the country. “So this partnership between PML-N and MQM will benefit not just Karachi but all of Pakistan,” he said.

The PML-N leader said that they also held talks with JUI-F and Pir Pagara-led PML-F. He hinted at forming a grand alliance in Sindh to develop Karachi and the entire province.

Rafique said talks were also held with other stakeholders in Sindh, including the Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan, adding that the PML-N wished to create an alliance in Sindh that would represent national wishes and prevent the “neglect” shown to Karachi and other cities of the province.

MQM-P convenor Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said,“We believe and we have conveyed this to our PML-N friends that the local government system is a key component of democracy”.

MQM-P convenor Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that in urban Sindh, we have seen how those who have been unable to prove their mandate in half a century, all of a sudden have taken control of every single affair of the local government system. This is a joke with democracy and it must come to an end.
