Islamabad United pacer Naseem Shah has opened up about bowling to Peshawar Zalmi superstar Babar Azam, who he believes “can hit even a good ball”.

Shah, who made a stunning return to cricket after completing rehab from a shoulder injury, was in awe of Babar’s batting brilliance and acknowledged the challenge of bowling against his former Pakistan captain.

“Babar Azam is obviously a tough batter to bowl against,” he told Cricwick. “Against some batsmen, you get a feeling that he’ll get out anytime or smash you all around.

“In case of Babar bhai, if you bowl a bad ball, he’ll put it away. But even good deliveries, you never know he would bash you for a boundary. It doesn’t feel like that he’ll get out.”

He recalled that how he managed a perfect Yorker to guide skillfully towards the third man.

“The other day I was bowling at him and I bowled a yorker and the ball was reversing. It was a perfect yorker and he ran it down to third man, I felt this was unfair [laughs].

Moreover, he said that even what it dubbed as good length deliveries in T20s, Babar can open the face and even get them away for boundary.

“Against such players, you rarely get that feeling he can get him out quickly,” he concluded.
