Pakistan observes World Thalassemia Day today (Saturday).

The day commemorates the struggles of the patients suffering from this genetic disorder.

It also aims to raise awareness about the disease and its symptoms.

Bedsides, the world observes the day under the year’s theme: “Addressing Health Inequalities across the Global Thalassemia Community”.

This global observance also honours the longstanding efforts of doctors and other medical staff.

Because, they remain dedicated to better the lives of patients from the disease.

Further, the day also honours those scientists bringing new advancements in the field to eradicate the disease.

World Thalassemia Day commemorate the thalassemia patients who have died.

Moreover, the day expressed support for all those patients who are alive and fighting every day for their right to a better quality of life.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said children suffering from thalassemia disease deserve special attention from society.

He said this in his message on world Thalassemia Day on Saturday.

Buzdar further said that the day aims to raise public awareness about the disease.

The Chief Minister underlined the provision of quality healthcare facilities for thalassemia patients as a top priority.

He recalled that the government has taken different measures in this regard.

Moreover, the CM stressed it as the need of hour to reiterate our commitment to promoting a healthy society in the country.
