Coronavirus death toll rises to 107 in Pakistan while total number of coronavirus infection cases reached 5,988.

These include Punjab, 2945, Sindh, 1518, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 865, Balochistan 240, Islamabad Capital Territory 140, Gilgit-Baltistan 234, and Azad Kashmir 46 cases.

So far 1,446 patients of Coronavirus have been recovered, while 107 died (Sindh: 35, Punjab: 28, KP: 38, ICT: 1, Balochistan:2 and GB:3) and 44 others are in a critical condition.

According to National Command and Operation Center this morning (8:30am), 73,439 tests have been conducted since outbreak of the pandemic.

Local transmission is 55 percent and foreign travel 45 percent.

The government has made ready five hundred and eighty-eight hospitals with Covid facilities with 1496 patients admitted across the country, while 352 quarantine facilities have been established with 16,387 people housed in them.

On the other hand, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan called protection of the people of Pakistan their top priority.

In a tweet on Wednesday, she said federal government will continue to further strengthens measures adopted by the provincial governments to check the spread of coronavirus.

She said Imran Khan is the Prime Minister of Pakistan and his aim is to ensure protection of the rights of the people of all the federating units.

The Special Assistant said all provinces are free and independent to make their decisions. She said eighteenth amendment guarantees constitutional powers of provinces.

She said Sindh government can take decisions according to the circumstances of its province and there is no restriction from the federal government in this regard.
