National Institute of Health confirms new covid variant among 2 Pakistanis who had visited the UK.

The NIH confirmation came in follow up to preliminary reports of the existence of this variant.

Now, they got the B.1.1.7 coronavirus variant presence confirmed via whole-genome sequencing.

The mergence of the new coronavirus variant in the UK first reported during December 2020.

Since then, the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination required testing.

Notably it mad testing for SARS-CoV-2 mandatory for all inbound passengers from the UK on arrival.

Meanwhile, it also noted 31 other countries also detected aforesaid UK-originated variant virus, so far.

The preliminary epidemiologic and clinical findings suggest that the B.1.1.7 variant virus may have a higher transmissibility but without any evidence of increased severity of illness.

On the other hand, 1895 more people tested Covid positive during the last 24 hours.

According to the latest data which the National Command and Operation Center, aforesaid cases detected after tests of 30,139 people.

Furthermore, the NCOC said 39 more people died of Coronavirus in the country during the last twenty-four hours.

Meanwhile, the figure of active Covid cases in the country mow stood at 35,722.

Moreover, NCOC confirmed recovery of 442,457 people from the virus so far.
