Punjab launches mobile app for digital registration of births, deaths, and marriages

12 December, 2025 20:04

The Local Government Department in Punjab has launched Pakistan’s first-ever e-registration service, allowing citizens to register births, deaths, marriages, and divorces online.

The service is available through the mobile app CRMS, developed in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

The app was officially inaugurated by Punjab’s Local Government Minister, Zeeshan Rafiq, along with senior officials including Secretary of Local Government Shakeel Ahmed, NADRA COO Syed Abdul Salam, and NADRA Punjab DG Fizza Shahid.

How the E-Registration Service Works

With this new system, citizens can register births, deaths, and other events from the comfort of their homes. The data is directly linked to NADRA’s system, ensuring automatic registration and making the process seamless.

The app is designed to collect accurate data for births, marriages, deaths, and divorces. Users will also receive official certificates through the system.

Accessibility Across Punjab

The e-registration service will be available across Punjab, including remote areas, through mobile registration services. The initiative aims to take registration directly to citizens, removing the need to visit government offices.

In the next phase, the app will add a birth and death notification tool, and Lady Health Workers will be connected to the system to improve accessibility and efficiency.

Officials’ Statements

Secretary of Local Government Shakeel Ahmed said that the digital initiative will eliminate the need for citizens to visit government offices, reducing delays and making the process more convenient.
