Barren Lands Turn Green Under Green Pakistan Initiative
Thanks to modern agricultural reforms under the Green Pakistan Initiative, the process of restoring barren lands and increasing agricultural production is rapidly progressing.
According to Muhammad Abu Bakr, business manager of Green Impex Private Limited, 1,500 acres of barren land are being converted into modern arable land, and crops like Rhodes grass and alfalfa are being grown. 20 percent of these crops are used for the needs of local dairy farms, while 80 to 90 percent are being exported. Through the efficient use of central pivot irrigation, 150 acres of land are being irrigated daily, saving 40 percent of water.
Muhammad Mudassar, Supervisor, Green Impex Private Limited, said that better crop-related decisions are being made by assessing weather conditions in a timely manner using modern weather stations.
CEO of Green Impex Private Limited, Gulzar Ahmed, said that under GPI, all facilities, including machinery and central pivot systems, are being provided through Green Agri Mall. Thanks to the Green Pakistan Initiative, the barren area has been transformed into an agricultural and green area.
Saad Ahsan, Assistant Director of the Green Pakistan Initiative, added that GPI is promoting the economy, social development, and food security by making barren lands cultivable.
