Authorities have suspended internet and mobile phone services across Azad Kashmir (AJK) from 11:30 pm, with the shutdown expected to remain in place until June 12.
According to media reports, the Joint Awami Action Committee has called for statewide protests across the region starting from June 9.
In response to the situation, the federal government has approved the deployment of 1,500 Islamabad Police personnel to Azad Jammu and Kashmir after a request from the AJK government.
The deployed force includes senior officers such as one DIG, two SSPs, and four SPs, along with eight DSPs, 16 inspectors, and 22 sub-inspectors to help maintain law and order during the protests.
Officials said that 70 assistant sub-inspectors and 1,382 constables have also been included in the deployment. The personnel have been drawn from multiple units, including the CTD, CPC, Safe City, Security Division, Operations Division, Logistics Division, Islamabad Traffic Police, ATS, and Special Branch.
Authorities said the additional security measures aim to ensure stability in the region during the expected demonstrations.
