Govt launches ‘Muhafiz Muharram’ app for Muharram 2026 security

Authorities have introduced a new mobile application called “Muhafiz Muharram” as part of enhanced security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram in the federal capital. Drones will also be used for monitoring Imam Bargahs, majalis locations, and procession routes.

The measures were announced during a high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, where overall security plans for the month were reviewed.

The minister directed officials to establish a four-layer security system around sensitive areas and ensure strict checking at all entry and exit points. He also stressed close coordination with religious scholars and community leaders to maintain peace during religious gatherings and processions.

The newly launched “Muhafiz Muharram” app will allow citizens to report suspicious activities, security concerns, and unusual movements in real time. Users can also share live locations and images directly with authorities.

A central control room has also been set up under the Safe City project to improve coordination and response.

Officials said these steps aim to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram by combining modern technology, strict security arrangements, and public participation. Further details about the app’s features will be shared soon.
