Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said Pakistan’s stance on the Indus Waters Treaty has received global recognition, strengthening the country’s legal position on the international stage. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad alongside Federal Minister for Climate Change Musadik Malik, Tarar said the treaty is an internationally recognized agreement between Pakistan and India and cannot be suspended unilaterally.

Tarar said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir have consistently maintained that water is a matter of national survival for Pakistan and stressed that there would be no compromise on the country’s national interests. He reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to safeguarding its water rights under international law.

The information minister also announced that Pakistan is hosting an international seminar on the Indus Waters Treaty for the first time, bringing together water resource experts from around the world. He said the event aims to highlight the legal and technical aspects of the treaty while reinforcing Pakistan’s position before the international community.
