Pakistan Declares August 26 Public Holiday for Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH)
The federal government has declared Wednesday, August 26, 2026, a public holiday to mark Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH).
Muslims observe the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, “The prime minister has been pleased to declare Aug 26, 2026 (Wednesday) as a public holiday on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi (12th Rabiul Awwal 1448 AH).”
The notification said the holiday was announced in continuation of an earlier circular issued on January 19 regarding public and optional holidays for 2026.
The announcement comes after the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee confirmed the date of Eid Miladun Nabi last week.
Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad said the Rabiul Awwal moon was not sighted on August 13. As a result, Eid Miladun Nabi will be observed on August 26.
Government offices and other institutions will observe the public holiday on Wednesday to mark the occasion.
