Balochistan Adds Nine Modern Ambulances to Emergency Response Service

15 September, 2026 09:24

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has taken steps to strengthen emergency medical services across the province with the addition of nine new fully equipped ambulances to the Medical Emergency Response Centre (MERC) 1122 in Quetta.

The newly added ambulances are equipped with modern medical facilities and will provide immediate healthcare assistance to people affected by road accidents, natural disasters and other emergencies.

Digital Tracking of Ambulances

Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar said an emergency response software system would enable effective digital tracking of ambulances operating across the province.

He said the system would help ensure that people injured in accidents receive timely medical treatment and are quickly transported to appropriate healthcare facilities.

The minister said all ambulances operating in Balochistan would soon be connected to the MERC 1122 Command and Control System.

Faster Emergency Response

According to the provincial health minister, the modern ambulance network would make it possible to provide emergency medical assistance more efficiently, including in remote and less accessible parts of Balochistan.

He said the digital system would improve the monitoring of ambulance operations while enhancing transparency, coordination and response times.

The system is expected to allow authorities to track ambulance movement more effectively and improve the deployment of emergency resources according to the location and urgency of incidents.

Strengthening Healthcare Services

The addition of the nine ambulances to MERC 1122 represents a significant development in Balochistan’s emergency healthcare infrastructure.

The provincial government aims to expand and modernise the emergency response network so that patients can receive medical assistance as quickly as possible, particularly in areas where access to healthcare facilities remains difficult.

The integration of ambulances with a central digital command system is also expected to strengthen coordination between emergency teams, hospitals and response centres across the province.
