NCCIA Forms Special Teams to Combat Cybercrime in Islamabad
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has formed special teams in its Islamabad Circle to address growing cybercrime challenges and accelerate action against individuals involved in illegal online activities. An NCCIA official said on Sunday that the initiative aims to improve investigative efficiency, strengthen coordination and ensure timely action against cybercriminals.
The official said the teams would prioritise cases involving cyber tipline reports received through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), child sexual abuse material (CSAM), online harassment of women and alleged anti-state activities. During a meeting, Additional Director Shoaib directed officers to focus on these cases and strengthen investigations through improved coordination and professional expertise.
Shoaib emphasised that protecting women and children from online exploitation and harassment was a key responsibility of the agency. He instructed officers to utilise their technical skills and experience to ensure prompt investigations and action in accordance with the law. The NCCIA expects the specialised teams to improve the Islamabad Circle’s performance and strengthen public protection against digital crimes.
