Pant returns as India announce T20 World Cup squad

Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is set to make comeback in international cricket after horror accident as India announced World Cup squad for ICC T20 World Cup.

The tournament is scheduled to be played in June in the United States and the West Indies.

Rohit Sharma will lead the team with Hardik Pandya as his deputy. KL Rahul was left out while Yuzvendra Chahal returned to the squad.

Apart from Chahal, Rishabh Pant has been called back into the squad after impressive performance in the ongoing Indian Premier League.

Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah will lead India’s pace attack.

Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja will contribute as all-rounders. Shubman Gill and Rinku Singh were placed on the reserve list.

India are in Group A alongside Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and hosts USA.

They kick off their campaign against Ireland on June 5 at the newly-built Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, followed by a highly anticipated match against Pakistan on June 9 at the same venue.
