PM Shehbaz inaugurates 330 MW power plant under CPEC

THARPARKAR – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated a 330 MW power plant under CPEC completed by Hubco.

On the occasion Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah gives a detailed briefing about the CPEC projects.

While briefing the Prime Minister, CM Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah said, CPEC is a game changer for the country’s economy, He recalled that Benazir Bhutto had envisioned the opening of the way for electricity production through Thar coal.

He said that generating electricity from Thar Coal required an extensive road network, bridges and an airport.

He also informed that according to the geological Survey of Pakistan, Thar coal has 175 billion tons of coal reserves and it has a total of 13 blocks, we were working on Block II and Block I. CM Sindh also said that provincial government spends 750 million dollars to built the infrastructure of Thar.

He further informed that, in 2014, work was started on a coal mine power project under CPEC and in 2015, the federal government issued a sovereign guarantee for the project.

The CM said that, the power generation capacity of this power project will increase to 2640 MW by the end of this year.

He further informed that, there will be an extraordinary increase in the country’s economy from Thar coal by the year 2030.
