17 February, 2024 12:42

The Islamabad police have imposed section 144 is Islamabad as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is set to begin its countrywide protest against irregularities in General Elections 2024.

Several political parties have taken to the streets after the unofficial election results poured in following the general elections.

In a statement issued by PTI on X said that the party has called for country-wide protests against the unprecedented, massive, brazen rigging in general elections 2024, where PTI’s win of 180 National Assembly seats and a two-thirds majority in the parliament, was cut down to half.

However, the Islamabad police without referring to any scheduled protests, said that there could be increased traffic near the F9 park and urged the public to avoid “unnecessary travel” on the nearby routes.

The police said that special forces of the Counter Terrorism Department had been deployed on patrol to deal with any emergency.
