PTI to stage countrywide ‘peaceful protest’ on Feb 17

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Gohar Khan has said his party will hold a peaceful protest across the country on Saturday (February 17) against rigging in the general elections.

“For this purpose, we are inviting all political parties whether it is the GDA, JI, JUI-F, TLP, ANP or any other party that believed the mandate was changed and rigging took place,” he said.

The PTI leaders were addressing the media outside Adiala Jail, where party founder Imran Khan being kept in different cases.

Gohar added that the PTI would record a peaceful protest on Saturday afternoon and requested the public to participate in it.

“These elections were very critical […] and we won’t let our mandate be stolen.”

Barrister Gohar said that Mian Aslam and Salar Khan Kakar will be chief minister candidates for Punjab and Balochistan respectively. “Aqibullah has been nominated for the speaker’s post in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he added.

Earlier, PTI’s Hammad Azhar asked workers across Punjab to prepare for peaceful protests as well.

“PTI candidates and workers all over Punjab start making arrangements for peaceful protest,” he posted on X.

“Each union council and ward without exception will mobilise public for this purpose,” he said, adding that the time and venue would be announced at a short notice.

“Inform the public that they will have to come out on the streets peacefully to regain their stolen mandate,” he added.
