Who is Mudassir Hassan? Social Media Activist Arrested for Promoting Gambling Application
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested a social media activist, Mudassir Hassan, in Lahore for promoting an illegal gambling application.
According to officials, Mudassir Hassan, was found advertising gambling apps on social media platforms. A case has been registered against him, and authorities have recovered a mobile phone and laptop from his possession. The court has granted NCCIA a five-day physical remand of the accused for further investigation.
In a related development, NCCIA has also summoned four well-known YouTubers on charges of promoting online gambling and illegal trading applications. The spokesperson confirmed that Iqra Kanwal, Mudassir Hassan, Hasnain Shah, and Anas Ali have been directed to appear in person on September 2.
Officials stated that these YouTubers allegedly encouraged the public to use illegal apps and misled people through content that promoted online trading and gambling. The agency has said that investigations are still ongoing, and if the allegations are proven, strict legal action will follow.
It is noteworthy that Pakistan’s prominent YouTuber, Saad ur Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai, was recently detained by immigration authorities at Lahore Airport. He was attempting to travel abroad despite his name being included in the PNIL (Provisional National Identification List). Following his arrest, he was handed over to the NCCIA.
