Rain Alert Issued for Several Cities in Next 12 Hours
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released an urgent weather advisory for the next 6 to 12 hours, forecasting “intense rainfall and strong winds” across parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
Rain Predicted Across Multiple KP Districts
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, heavy showers are likely to hit several districts including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Karak, Kohat, Kohistan, Mohmand, Nowshera, Malakand, Charsadda, Bannu, Buner, Mardan, Peshawar, Swabi, and Waziristan.
Punjab and Islamabad Also on Alert
The same weather system is expected to affect parts of Punjab and the federal capital. Cities like Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Lahore, Hafizabad, Narowal, Kasur, and Layyah are expected to witness heavy rainfall and strong gusty winds.
NDMA Warns of Possible Hazards
NDMA has highlighted several risks such as “falling of trees, power outages, damage to weak structures, and reduced visibility leading to traffic accidents.” Authorities are encouraging citizens to stay cautious during this period.
Safety Measures Advised
Residents are advised to “avoid unnecessary travel, stay clear of trees and fragile infrastructure,” and keep up with official updates. People should take all precautionary steps to stay safe during the predicted weather conditions.
