First Round of Israel-Hamas Ceasefire Talks Ends Without Agreement

07 July, 2025 11:42

Doha: The initial round of ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas held in Qatar’s capital, Doha, concluded without any breakthrough.

According to Reuters, Palestinian officials criticized the Israeli delegation, saying they lacked the authority to finalize an agreement during the talks.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had earlier stated on Saturday night that Hamas’s recent demands were unacceptable to Israel and despite this he authorized a high-level team to participate in the Doha negotiations.

Recently, Hamas responded positively to a new ceasefire and prisoner exchange proposal mediated by Qatar and the United States for Gaza.

US President Donald Trump also claimed that Israel had agreed to the conditions for a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza.

Speaking to reporters in New Jersey, Trump expressed optimism about reaching an agreement with Hamas this week. He indicated that some hostages might be released and mentioned plans to discuss a permanent deal involving Netanyahu and Iran.
