Who Is Cole Allen? Suspect in White House Dinner Shooting at Washington Hilton

Authorities have identified Cole Tomas Allen as the suspect involved in the shooting incident that occurred during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday.

According to a law enforcement official, Allen, approximately 31 years old, is a resident of Torrance, a coastal community in the Los Angeles area. Investigators believe he was present as a guest at the Washington Hilton, where the high-profile event was being held. However, officials have stated that a clear motive has not yet been determined.

Social media and professional profiles linked to Allen indicate he has an academic background in engineering and computer science. He reportedly earned a mechanical engineering degree from the California Institute of Technology in 2017 and later completed a master’s degree in computer science from California State University, Dominguez Hills in 2025.

Online records suggest Allen worked as a part-time instructor for C2 Education and was also involved in independent game development. A social media post indicates he was recognized as “Teacher of the Month” in December 2024 by a Torrance branch of the tutoring organization.

His professional profile describes him as a “mechanical engineer and computer scientist by degree, independent game developer by experience, teacher by birth.” Previous experience listed includes work as a mechanical engineer and a teaching assistant during his academic years.

The United States Secret Service reported that the suspect was armed with a shotgun and opened fire at an agent at the hotel. He was subsequently taken into custody. The incident occurred outside the main ballroom where prominent figures, including Donald Trump, Melania Trump, and JD Vance, were attending the event.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing as authorities continue to examine the suspect’s background and possible motives.
