Trump Transfers Venezuelan Uranium in Joint Operation While Iran Nuclear Objective Remains Unfulfilled Amid Global Tensions

The Trump administration has reportedly overseen a joint international operation involving the United Kingdom to remove highly enriched uranium from Venezuela, while its broader efforts to secure similar materials from Iran remain unsuccessful.

The US Department of Energy confirmed on Friday that 13.5 kilograms of uranium was extracted from a legacy research reactor in Venezuela. Officials stated the operation was conducted “thanks to President Trump’s decisive leadership” and described it as “a win for America, Venezuela, and the world.”

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that the uranium was “safely and securely transported by land and sea from South to North America” in a complex operation. The material was later transferred to a Department of Energy facility in South Carolina after being removed from a site near Caracas.

The operation comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions in which Washington has repeatedly emphasized its objective of obtaining enriched uranium from Iran, a goal that has not yet been achieved. Analysts note that while the US has made progress in Venezuela, efforts related to Iran’s nuclear material remain stalled.

Earlier developments include continued pressure campaigns and maritime strategies involving Iran, but officials have acknowledged that key objectives regarding Iranian uranium stockpiles are still unresolved.
