Trump Reveals US Warning Issued to Netanyahu on Iran Situation

09 June, 2026 10:34

Washington: US President Donald Trump has revealed that he warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that if tensions against Iran escalated further, Israel could find itself isolated against Iran.

Speaking to Israeli media, Trump said that he had recently spoken to Netanyahu by phone and advised him to avoid immediate military action in response to Iran’s ballistic missile attacks.

According to the US president, Israel informed Washington about the strikes at the final stage, after the missiles had been fired at Iran.

Trump claimed that his advisers first expected Israel to delay its retaliation to give Iran-US negotiations more time but the Israeli leadership later carried out the strikes.

Reports claim Netanyahu briefed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio following consultations with security officials.

The US president added that he also made efforts to limit the scope and intensity of the Israeli attacks. According to him, five countries in the region that are involved in the mediation process between the US and Iran had also requested Washington to prevent Israel from further military action in order to pave the way for a diplomatic solution.

Trump said that Iranian officials had also sent a message through the US that they did not want to carry out further attacks and had also requested Israel to stop the operations. After that, he contacted Netanyahu again and urged to reduce tensions.

The US president once again expressed hope that an agreement between Iran and the US is still possible and that Tehran is interested in signing the agreement.

Trump’s statements are being considered important in the context of the ongoing tension in the Middle East, the Iran-Israel conflict and US diplomatic efforts.
