Iran targets US military bases in Kuwait and Jordan
Kuwait’s armed forces said on Wednesday that air defence systems were activated to intercept hostile aerial targets and urged residents to follow official safety instructions.
The announcement came after Iranian media reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had targeted Kuwait’s Ali Al Salem Air Base with drones.
Iranian media also claimed that the IRGC launched a missile attack on the US-operated Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan. Reports said four locations inside the base were targeted, including aircraft hangars and the command-and-control centre.
In Bahrain, the Interior Ministry announced that warning sirens had been activated and advised residents to seek shelter and follow official guidance.
Later, a media adviser to Bahrain’s king said the country’s air defence systems had successfully intercepted and repelled the reported Iranian attacks.
The developments followed claims by the IRGC that it had launched drone attacks against the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain. Iranian media also warned of stronger responses if hostilities continue.
However, these claims could not be independently verified, and US military officials had not issued any immediate statement regarding the reported attacks.
The situation remains tense as regional tensions continue to rise across the Middle East.
