Iran Rejects Trump’s Statement on Imminent Peace Agreement
The Iranian military and the Revolutionary Guards have strongly rejected US President Donald Trump’s claim that a peace deal with Iran would be signed today.
The Revolutionary Guards said Iranian negotiators had already made it clear that no agreement can be signed on Sunday. They also said Trump’s statements do not match the reality on the ground.
Iranian military sources added that Trump’s reference to a signing ceremony on June 14 appears to be more of a symbolic political statement aimed at gaining media attention. They said such claims could harm serious diplomatic efforts.
Earlier, Trump said the Iran peace deal would be signed today and the Strait of Hormuz would be fully reopened internationally.
He also said tensions in the region would ease after the agreement and things would return to normal. Trump added that the US hopes to expand cooperation with Iran and other Middle Eastern countries in the future.
After Iran’s latest denial, there is now a clear difference between the two sides’ statements.
