Iran Agriculture Minister Announces New Trade Phase Amid Food Security Claims

Iran’s Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh has announced what he described as a new phase in the country’s agricultural trade and export sector, saying that food security remained stable despite months of wartime conditions.
Speaking at the opening of Iran Agrofood 2026 in Tehran on Thursday, the minister said the new phase would be based on three main pillars: restructuring foreign currency subsidies in production chains, leveraging Iran’s geographic position along key transit corridors, and expanding the country’s industrial capacity in food processing.
He said that despite what he described as nearly four months of wartime conditions and economic restrictions, there had been no disruption in the supply of essential goods.
Officials have previously described Iran’s economic strategy as a “resistance economy,” emphasizing self-reliance and reduced dependence on foreign supply chains.
