Iranian Women Scholars Call for International Investigation Over Alleged Wartime Violations

A group of Iranian women scholars, intellectuals, and cultural figures has issued an open letter calling for international accountability over alleged violations committed during the recent conflict involving Iran. Addressed to international legal bodies, human rights organizations, and academic institutions, the letter urges independent investigations into attacks that the signatories say affected civilians and essential infrastructure.
In the letter, released on June 22, the scholars alleged that civilian infrastructure, educational institutions, and medical facilities were among the sites targeted during the conflict. They called on international organizations to document the incidents, investigate the allegations, and pursue legal action against those found responsible under international law.
The appeal reflects growing calls from Iranian civil society for international scrutiny of the recent hostilities. The signatories urged global institutions to uphold humanitarian and legal standards by ensuring that allegations of violations are independently examined and addressed through established international mechanisms.
