Several Indian news channels have reportedly been targeted in a series of cyberattacks, raising concerns about the security of the country’s broadcasting systems.

According to reports, TV9 Telugu and Freedom TV Kannada were reportedly hacked by unknown attackers during the Indian President’s address. The hackers allegedly gained access to the broadcast systems of both channels while the speech was being delivered.

Reports claimed that Pakistan’s national anthem was played on TV9 Telugu during the broadcast. The hackers also reportedly displayed a warning message telling India not to provoke Pakistan.

In a separate reported incident, Indian news channel ABP News was also targeted in a cyberattack that disrupted its broadcasts. The attackers reportedly gained access to the channel’s Android and iOS applications and displayed a Quranic verse and a video on its online streaming platforms.

The incidents briefly affected the channels’ services and led to widespread discussion and speculation on social media.

TV9 Telugu has more than 14 million followers on social media, while Freedom TV Kannada has over 1 million followers. ABP News has around 15 million YouTube subscribers and an estimated monthly viewership of 124 million. The channel was established in 1998 and was previously known as Star News.

Cybersecurity experts said the reported attacks have raised questions about the security of India’s broadcasting and digital systems. They added that the incidents highlight the need for stronger cybersecurity measures to protect major media platforms from future cyberattacks.

The reported cyberattacks have attracted significant attention online, although official details about the incidents remain limited.
