Iran’s Top Security Official Vows Retribution Ahead of Martyred Supreme Leader’s Funeral

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has declared that those responsible for the crimes committed against the martyred Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and the Iranian people will face retribution “at the right time” by what it described as “righteous elements.” The statement was issued as the country prepares for funeral ceremonies honoring the late Leader.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr said the “clenched fist of the martyred Leader at the moment of his ascension will remain an enduring symbol of Iran’s national security doctrine.” He said the country’s resolve to safeguard its sovereignty and security would remain steadfast despite recent developments.
Zolqadr, a veteran commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), was appointed to lead the council on March 24 following the assassination of his predecessor, Ali Larijani, in what Iranian officials described as a US-Israeli strike. His remarks came ahead of nationwide funeral ceremonies, with authorities emphasizing national unity and continued vigilance against external threats.
