President Pezeshkian Praises Iran Football Team After World Cup Return

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has commended the national football team following its return to Tehran after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, praising the players for their determination and commitment despite a campaign marked by travel restrictions imposed by co-host the United States.

In a message issued on Wednesday, Pezeshkian thanked the members of the national team, saying that “fighting with all your heart until the very last moment is more important than victory.” He added that scientific preparation, high morale, a transformational approach, and strong motivation are essential for achieving future success.

Although Iran was eliminated from the tournament, the team’s performance was warmly received by supporters and praised by officials from the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Football Federation. Upon arriving at Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport on Wednesday, the squad was greeted by large crowds and football officials in a celebratory welcome.
