IRGC Navy strikes two rogue super tankers misled by US into crossing mined waters of Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has announced that two super oil tankers were disabled after allegedly ignoring repeated Iranian safety warnings and entering a restricted, mined route in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to an official IRGC statement, the vessels were allegedly misled by what it described as American provocations and deliberately switched off their navigation systems before attempting to pass through waters designated as restricted for security reasons.

The IRGC said the Hormuz Strait Security Control Center repeatedly warned both tankers to return to approved international shipping lanes, but the vessels ignored the instructions and continued through the restricted route.

Iranian officials stated that the ships endangered international maritime traffic and violated security protocols governing one of the world’s most strategically important waterways.

The IRGC Navy said both vessels were struck and rendered inoperable during the operation.

The statement warned that any cooperation with what Iran described as the “aggressor” United States, or any attempt to violate security measures in the Strait of Hormuz, would result in serious consequences, including heavy losses, further delays in reopening the waterway, and increased risks to global energy supplies.

Iran stressed that it would firmly confront any actions aimed at undermining regional stability or challenging the security of the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier, Lieutenant-Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaqari, spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, reiterated that Iran would never allow the United States to interfere in the management or security of the Strait of Hormuz.

His remarks came after comments by US President Donald Trump suggesting that Washington could take control of the strategic maritime passage.

Iranian authorities maintain that the Strait of Hormuz remains under Iran’s security oversight and insist that all vessels must comply with established maritime regulations designed to ensure safe navigation and regional stability.

According to Iranian officials, stricter controls were introduced following the escalation of tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel, with Tehran emphasizing that the security of the strategic waterway remains a national priority.
