US War Spending Against Iran Surpasses $100 Billion
A US television network has claimed that the real cost of the US war against Iran has reached between $80 billion and $100 billion, nearly three times higher than the Pentagon’s official estimate.
According to NBC News, citing internal Defense Department sources, the Pentagon has publicly reported war costs of about $30 billion, but the actual expenses are much higher.
The report said the Pentagon’s figures mainly cover the cost of weapons and ammunition used in the conflict. They do not include the cost of rebuilding US military infrastructure damaged in Iranian counterattacks, which is estimated to exceed $30 billion.
The report also said the official figures exclude logistics, the deployment and maintenance of two naval fleets, troop evacuations, and two additional months of heavy fighting that included hundreds of US airstrikes.
According to the Iran War Cost Tracker, the United States had spent more than $113 billion on the conflict by mid-June.
The report also cited a US congressional assessment claiming that the US Air Force has lost 42 aircraft and drones, including advanced F-15 and F-35 fighter jets.
US President Donald Trump had described the military operation, which began on February 28, as a short mission expected to last four to five weeks. However, after more than four months of fighting, there is still no clear end to the conflict.
