Iran Urges Europe to Condemn U.S. Actions, Calls for Stronger Diplomatic Role

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, said he briefed European ambassadors on Tehran’s position regarding current regional developments and what he described as “criminal American actions.” In a post on social media, Gharibabadi said Iran had “inflicted a heavy defeat on the aggressors” during the 40-day Ramadan war and would “decisively defend our territory and national interests” against any new round of U.S. military aggression.

Speaking to the European envoys, the Iranian official argued that recent wars had brought no strategic achievements for the United States and had instead endangered regional and international peace and security. He called on European governments to uphold the UN Charter and international law by condemning what he termed acts of aggression, while also noting that some European countries, including Spain, had adopted what he described as principled positions.

Gharibabadi further warned that any European country providing bases or territory for hostile actions against Iran would be considered among the aggressors. He said Europe should play a leading role in diplomacy rather than follow what he called the aggressor force, emphasizing Tehran’s expectation that European governments contribute to de-escalation and the promotion of political dialogue.
