Iran Executes Two Mossad Spies Convicted of Espionage and Intelligence Cooperation

03 August, 2026 11:42

Iran has executed two individuals convicted of spying for Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, according to Iran’s judiciary.

The judiciary identified the two men as Omid Behzad and Pouria Safvat, stating that they were found guilty of espionage and cooperation with the Israeli regime. Officials said the Mossad intelligence service had attempted to recruit agents inside Iran through direct and indirect communication networks during the period of military tensions involving the United States and Israel.

According to the case details released by Iranian authorities, Omid Behzad was accused of providing geographical coordinates, locations, and information related to military, law enforcement, and security facilities to networks linked with Mossad during the 40-day conflict. Authorities stated that he used mapping applications to identify and transmit sensitive locations.

Iranian officials further claimed that an administrator of a Telegram channel linked to Israel informed Behzad that the provided coordinates would be verified, added to the Israeli military’s target database, and transferred to Mossad through secure communication channels.

Pouria Safvat was accused of sending images and information about sensitive locations to Iran International, which Iranian authorities described as part of an intelligence communication network linked to Mossad. Officials claimed that some of the locations shared by Safvat were later targeted in airstrikes.

The case file also stated that Safvat recorded and transmitted videos of Iran’s air defense systems from high-rise locations during the 12-day conflict.

Both individuals were arrested by the intelligence organization of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Iranian authorities said they were convicted of espionage and intelligence cooperation with Israel, with their sentences reviewed and approved by the Supreme Court before execution.

The executions come amid heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, with both sides accusing each other of intelligence operations and covert activities.
