Iran and Oman Near Agreement on New Strait of Hormuz Maritime Route: Esmaeil Baqaei

Iran and Oman are close to reaching an agreement on a new maritime route related to the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s Foreign Ministry has confirmed.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said that progress has been made in negotiations with Oman and that discussions are ongoing to establish a temporary secure passage through the strategic waterway.

Baghaei explained that the proposed new route would include a designated corridor with separate lanes for entry and exit to ensure safer maritime movement.

The Iranian spokesperson further stated that reaching an agreement with Oman alone would not be sufficient for the complete restoration of normal conditions in the Strait of Hormuz. He added that if what he described as US aggression continues, the current situation would remain unchanged.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important maritime chokepoints, through which a significant portion of global energy shipments passes. Any disruption in the waterway has raised concerns over regional security and international trade.
