Report Claims Covert Campaign Targeted Slovenia’s Pro-Palestine Government

11 August, 2026 17:43

A covert political influence campaign allegedly targeted Slovenia’s Liberal Freedom government ahead of the country’s March general election, with claims that the operation was conducted by the private intelligence firm Black Cube on behalf of Israel. The campaign reportedly sought to damage the reputation of Prime Minister Robert Golob’s government, which had imposed an arms embargo on Israel amid its support for Palestinian rights.

According to the report, videos showing prominent Slovenian figures in purported business meetings began appearing on the website anticorruption2026.com just 12 days before election day. The meetings were allegedly organized by a supposed British investment fund called Stockard Capital and presented as evidence of corruption involving the government. However, the report claims Stockard Capital was a fictitious entity created as part of a sting operation to manufacture compromising material, while the website itself provided no clear information about its ownership, editorial staff or contact details.

Although Golob’s Liberal Freedom Movement reportedly won more votes than its main rivals, it failed to secure enough support to form a government and was ultimately replaced by a right-wing coalition. The new administration subsequently moved to lift Slovenia’s arms embargo on Israel. The episode has therefore raised broader questions about covert political interference, private intelligence operations and the use of fabricated or deceptive material to influence democratic elections and foreign-policy decisions.
