Iran Judiciary Chief Rejects Trump’s Claims Over Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje’i has dismissed US President Donald Trump’s recent remarks about ownership of the Strait of Hormuz as “nonsense,” asserting that Iran considers the strategic waterway an inseparable part of its territorial and border domain. In a social media post on Saturday, Mohseni-Eje’i said Trump’s statements reflected what he described as “delusions” and stressed that Iran would not accept claims challenging its sovereignty.

Mohseni-Eje’i said Iran had demonstrated its position through its military capabilities and warned that any hostile action or “adventurism” in the strategic waterway would face a forceful response. He further argued that, from Iran’s perspective, international law and the principles of national sovereignty support Tehran’s position regarding the Strait of Hormuz, which connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and remains one of the world’s most strategically important maritime routes.

The remarks came after Trump said that, following what he described as the defeat of Iran, he would declare the Strait of Hormuz a territory of the United States. Mohseni-Eje’i rejected the statement as incapable of changing what he called established realities, while describing Trump as a political and military “loser.” His comments underscore the sharp escalation in rhetoric between Tehran and Washington over the strategic waterway and its wider geopolitical significance.
