Hezbollah Lawmaker Reaffirms Alliance With Iran, Rejects Surrender

Hezbollah lawmaker Hussein al-Hajj Hassan has reaffirmed the group’s alliance with Iran, saying Tehran has consistently supported Hezbollah and that the resistance movement does not recognize surrender as an option. Speaking at a memorial ceremony, al-Hajj Hassan, who heads the Baalbek-Hermel parliamentary bloc, said Hezbollah remains proud of relying on Iran’s capabilities and achievements. He also claimed that Iran’s influence over the Strait of Hormuz and global energy markets provides significant leverage for Tehran and its allies.

Addressing the confrontation between Iran and the United States, al-Hajj Hassan said the outcome of the conflict had not yet been determined but insisted that Tehran would not surrender or abandon its leverage. He accused Washington of attempting to achieve through political, economic and diplomatic pressure what it had failed to accomplish militarily. He also claimed that Russia, China and other countries had refused to join an economic campaign against Iran, while arguing that the resistance had prevented the United States and Israel from achieving what he described as their primary objective of destroying Hezbollah.

Al-Hajj Hassan also criticized the Lebanese government over its policies toward Israel, accusing officials of adopting positions favorable to Washington and Tel Aviv. He specifically condemned Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji over remarks that he said characterized Israeli attacks on Lebanon as a legitimate right, while criticizing the president and prime minister for failing to publicly reject those statements. He further questioned Beirut’s pursuit of direct negotiations with Israel, asking why the government was seeking peace while, in his view, Lebanese territory remained under Israeli occupation.
